This is my take on an rough idea seen on a truck window sticker on the Legal Insurrection blog. I soooo can’t wait.

The fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals could be no clearer than this: conservatives define liberty as the God-given right to be free of harm and force from others, while liberals define liberty primarily as the government-bestowed privilege to kill their own unwanted children.

The two ideas are fundamentally incompatible; the one describing the very definition of objective morality, the other describing the very definition of evil: the willful destruction of innocent human life.

Every one of us is fundamentally, wholly defined by how we side with these ideals.

Propaganda is fun.

Oh, dear. Those poor Democrats, Liberals, Marxists, Communists, and other collectivists. It’s bad enough that they’ve had to pitch and moan about “global warming” while the earth has been cooling since 1998, but now they’ll have to figure out how to blame Bush and the Republicans for the looming ice age.

Seems that the arbiter of earth’s temperatures—the sun—is going into a period of reduced activity again, resulting in lower temperatures here on earth. Funny how people are suddenly interested in actual science again after having been so faithfully devoted to the religion and myth of man-made global warming. As has been predicted feared by actual clergy for hundreds of years, science destroys religion; well, fake religion in this case.

So we’re about to swing back to the purported crisis that these idiots warned of in the early 1970s. The ice age is coming! The ice age is coming! If not for those evil Republicans our immensely complex and continually changing planet would be enjoying a constant, unchanging climate!

Something must be done! What is the government going to do to stop the evil Republicans from cooling the sun!? Well, I can just about guarantee we’re going to find out in the coming years. Liberal idiocy knows no bounds.

An Open Letter to Former Governor Sarah Palin

Dear Sarah,

In this hour of our nation’s great need I’m calling on you to take up the standard that you alone can competently and rightfully bear. Many so-called Republican leaders fancy themselves the one to take on President Obama in the coming election, yet not one of them has any great chance of victory.

You alone can win.

This election—if it is about pale contrasts, minor distinctions, and ostensibly-palatable establishment ideals versus the give-us-more-time, smooth, leftist rhetoric—will waste and do shallow service to our nation’s grave need and swelling patriotic will. Over the past two and a half years our liberties have been assailed and sequestered and our nation’s fundamental mechanisms subjected to previously-unimaginable harm at the hands of a fiat-wielding, malicious, would-be dictator (thankfully, only the second ever in our nation, after the fascist Woodrow Wilson). These are potentially mortal wounds that he and his administration have dealt to us. There is no time and no room for milquetoast policies and compromise. Our great and ailing nation needs an uncompromising leader with a moral vision and set of Constitutionally-restorative ideas.

Sarah Palin, we need you in this fight; in front, leading the charge.

Contrary to what some misguided and dispirited politicians and talking heads in our camp have so little stomach but to proclaim, you will easily win the Party’s nomination and, as I will work to demonstrate in the text that follows, your victory in the general election will then be assured. You’ll win nomination because you are the only candidate that represents all of what America needs at this pivotal moment in time. Almost every other candidate and potential candidate has the wrong sort of record and/or has liberal leanings; eager to compromise with the feckless, collectivist ideologues on the left. Otherwise they have disastrous ideas for foreign and military policy. You will stand as a towering, incandescent lighthouse among twigfires.

Our nation’s rising conscience, the Tea Party members, will consider themselves abandoned and betrayed if your leadership and example is absent from this most important debate and referendum of the past century. That would be a gravely disabling blow to this worthy effort. Other pretenders have association and some affinity with the Tea Party, but you alone embody all of the qualities and values it was created to restore. America will not throw in fully with one who is “almost right” in this election because every other potential candidate will represent their ideas as “almost the same, just Republican” as those represented by Obama, so scared of him and his media machine are they.

Without contrasts, we are all doomed. You are fearless. You have endured trial by fire and you have emerged (nearly) unscathed. And for this, your opponents fear you as no other. Provided that your security is a better match for the evil that will doggedly pursue you, you need only be who you are, present your message, reveal your values, and race to victory. Here is why you cannot fail to win…

Surface Fundamentals

A candidate must be vetted. This past election reveals the requisite nature of this mandate like no other in history. As it happens, you are likely the most-vetted human being in the United States. Unlike every other candidate, we know almost everything about you. And due to the facts revealed in this public vetting we are endeared to you as no other.

The most useful of weapons in your opponents’ arsenals they themselves have removed. Thousands of obsessed journalists, saboteurs, and agents of evil have pored over your records and emails. Much to their chagrin, everything they’ve found reveals only that you are an effective and conscientious leader, a good friend, good mother, and a caring individual.

Before his election, we knew nothing about Barack Obama except that he was the friend of terrorists, had spent 20 years in an anti-American, racist church, and had absolutely no executive experience…though his media conspirators worked desperately and effectively to keep this information from most citizens. Now, however, we know by his actions that Obama is an extremist ideologue bent on taking our country down the same road as the failed socialist nations. Americans are now scared of what they didn’t know and largely repulsed by what they do know of Obama. You, on the other hand, are an open and wholesome book. You win.

Winning Contrasts

You have the historically-proven proper vision of and for America and you want to lead. That leadership involves giving Americans back their stolen liberties and property. Obama only has an agenda he wants to execute in order to fundamentally change our nation; Obama has no idea how to lead; he is unfailingly indecisive, pedantic, and lazy and his every action makes all of this abundantly clear to anyone paying attention.

As has been observed by astute analysts (and apparent to anyone the more they get to know him), Obama is always the least accomplished, least competent man in the room everywhere he goes. By contrast, you are likely the most competent person in the room wherever you go. You’re an accomplished woman, statesman, and executive. Obama has never accomplished anything or run anything in his entire life…other than an endless campaign. He has clever words and a suave voice, but his disastrous and short record makes them ring hollow now. Your words and ideas are full of promise and patriotism. You have a virtually unvarnished record of accomplishment. Obama’s record is one of nothing but ruination and union cronyism.

Candidate Obama wrapped himself in the trappings of “hope,” yet his every action as President betrays his comprehensive lack of faith in the American people. His hope is invested in government and bureaucracy; all of us know that now. Despite his words, everything he does works to remove responsibility and choice from Americans. One does not remove responsibility from those one trusts. Conversely, your every personal and professional action reveals the overwhelming hope within you and your faith in people. Your beautiful family is a tangible reflection of real hope, and the joy you exude in motherhood makes an indisputable statement. Being a devoted wife and an attentive and nurturing mother has not prevented you from attaining accomplishments few can match.

You are as tough as a hickory nut; apparently unflappable and your poise serves you well. Obama is a self-important, self-entitled man-child who is easily flustered. On the contrast in maturity, you win in a rout.

You’re a staunch supporter of our traditional and moral allies while President Obama has consistently enlarged our enemies and scorned our allies during his time in office. You understand the vital responsibility for the US to support Israel while Obama cautiously seeks to see it destroyed; for he has, by design or ineptitude, constantly disrupted agreement progress in the Middle East while lending moral and material support to Israel’s enemies. You’re a stalwart champion and supporter of The United States of America and its exceptional fundamental values. Obama has ever apologized for America. He is embarrassed. You are a proud patriot.

Your husband is a business owner and your glowing family is a perfect picture of the spectrum of the American experience. Obama’s wife said that the first time she was ever proud of her country was when people voted for her husband in an election primary. Anti-American cynicism is not the proper stuff of American leaders. The Obamas clearly hate America and you guys are America. Obama wants to change us and you want to restore us.

You win by stark contrast.

The Media Battle

Having utterly failed its Constitutionally-mandated charge, our nation’s free press is gone; perhaps forever. Where it was conceived as a protector of our Constitution and our liberties—itself a Constitutionally-protected instrument to hold the government’s feet to the fire—it has deformed into a willing instrument of corruption, misdirection, and misinformation; a weapon of leftist, collectivist ideology nearly to the exclusion of all else. Here you find your most dangerous opponent. And yet you have always prevailed against it. Because of what matters: substance.

The media and the Left have almost nothing left to throw at you. So they’ll manufacture things. Both Obama and the leftist media machine will come after you without restraint and in a manner unprecedented in its shocking viciousness because revealed facts render their weapons all but devoid of substance. You, however, are the most experienced person on earth at dealing with these tactics

As Obama cannot run on his record, he will have nothing of positive substance to claim as indicative of his leadership. The Obama campaign will be shamelessly vicious and vulgar in competing against you and your campaign, and the media will tout the genius of Obama’s strategy (as the media assist). You know this. Just another day at the office.

Do not waste time countering or attacking their strategy or tactics. Instead, merely point out their actions: when they use vulgar name calling (they will) to sully your image, merely point out the indecent behavior they’ve engaged in. Ask Americans if they or any of their friends would say such a thing. Shame the Obama campaign and the media. They will neither admit to shame nor care, but Americans will care. Make the media battle about decency, morality, and class. You exude it. They have none.

You’ll be up against a talented but shallow opponent. Obama has demonstrated that he reacts to high-profile issues in a childish manner; wading in without thinking and making a huge, needless mess in the process. Much like his kindly but inept VP, he will give you periodic gifts of gaff, exposing his vindictive and childish nature. Respond by pointing out the inappropriateness of his behavior and the low character it reveals. The compelling evidence will mount.

This is ancillary, but it is likely that Joe Biden, for obvious reasons, will be muzzled and sequestered during the campaign. But that will likely not keep his comments out of the public arena. His mouth is connected quite directly to his heart and his heart understands facts that reveal Obama’s folly. Joe Biden is your indirect ally.

If President Obama directly attacks you, it will be about wholesome things he—being a leftist—finds detestable: your beauty, your family devotion, your folksy, forthright nature. Otherwise he’ll have nothing but distortions and lies to use as ammunition. This will backfire on him. He can’t string ten words together effectively or strategically without a teleprompter, yet a candidate must often speak extemporaneously. When he speaks from his heart he reveals his petty, vindictive and childish nature. If he is muzzled in an effort to keep him “above the nastiness,” his media allies will be all you have to worry about. Your words and ideas come from knowing who you are and what you and America are all about. Your natural manner is compelling and positive. You win by stark contrast.

In Conclusion

Sarah, if you don’t run, we get a rerun of the last election, with the Republican candidate speaking and acting in pale pastels. You vs. Obama would be a contest of bold contrasts:

• competence vs. ineptitude
• accomplishment vs. destruction
• patriotic exuberance vs. government power
• positivity vs. viciousness
• founding American principles vs. Marxist ideology
• Everybody’s loving sister or mom vs. a bully and his ever-growing offices of bureaucratic cronies

If you truly are who you appear to be, you must run and defeat Barack Obama for the sake of our nation and our culture. If, however, you are not the woman and statesman we believe you to be, you had damn well better bow out and allow the better candidate to take up this challenge, and help the cause of liberty as best you may from the sidelines. Do not toy with our nation.

Note that I mention this last mostly as a message to other candidates who might read this, and I hope that they take it to heart. He or she who is not entirely capable and devoted to this righteous cause must step aside in favor of his or her betters. Neither hypocrisy nor frivolousness nor façade has any place in this imperative effort. This is big boy and big girl time. Your nation’s hopes and dreams are riding on your decisions and actions. Act and decide accordingly.

Sarah, as was rightly advised by Basil King, I ask you to be bold—and mighty forces will come to your aid. You already know this. You’ve yet lived it. Do it once more and Americans will come to your aid, as you come to ours. But do it now.

If you hold that redistributive taxation is appropriate you must agree that armed agents of the state can compel your neighbor to give up his personal property/money simply because need exists somewhere or because some authority has decided that income must be redistributed.

Simple. Powerful. Fact.

I’ve written several times on the vacuity and dangers of moral relativism. It has in so many cases replaced actual morality in our government, our public schools, the public discourse, and as I recently observed, has all but destroyed a profession near and dear to my heart. I and many others see it destroying the once-great nation of The United States, exacerbated by economic folly perpetrated upon us by demagogues and malevolent amateurs. It’s sickening.

This morning I’m again reminded of moral relativism’s outrageous and needless destruction of our society and our nation in D.L. Adams’ excellent article, Moral Relativism and Fall: Solzhenitsyn’s Forgotten Warning to America. In it he harkens back to the address by Alexander Solzhenitsyn at Harvard Class Day Afternoon Exercises, Thursday, June 8, 1978.

“…Such a tilt of freedom in the direction of evil has come about gradually but it was evidently born primarily out of a humanistic and benevolent concept according to which there is no evil inherent to human nature; the world belongs to mankind and all the defects of life are caused by wrong social systems which must be corrected.”

Adams makes his own astute observations which, much like my own, express an underlying incredulity at the absurdity of the path we’re on:

“We do not now see our own value in comparison to other cultures (and ideologies) because to make such a comparison that states that we are better is considered wrong, intolerant, and bigoted. Such comparisons are not allowed (in our politically correct self-censoring society) due to our embrace of multiculturalism and moral relativism. If we are then no better, and no worse, than any other country, culture, or ideology what can be the basis for defending ourselves from them?”

Mr. Adams writes an excellent piece here and I urge you to read the entire article as well as the transcript of Solzhenitsyn’s address..

There is no such thing as the black community and there are no black issues. There is no white community or white issues. There is no Hispanic community, no Hispanic issues; no Asian community and no Asian issues.

Here in the United States of America there is only an American community concerned with American issues. Anyone who says differently is a racist working to destroy our nation.

It’s quite simple: the racists are the ones caught up in dividing issues and communities according to race, or expecting others to do so.

After almost 10 years on the web and many websites later, I’m finally starting a blog.

I usually write long, involved articles on design and design professionalism (other topics occasionally), but often have the desire to craft a shorter post or an article that does not fit logically or easily into Design View. After years of friction this blog was the logical result.

Initially I’ll have comments enabled, but I do not hold out hope that this will last. I do not care to engage in comment exchanges—preferring email exchanges—and I find that most comments are worthless, knee-jerk, performances by anonymous people for a hair-trigger audience. At the very least I shall be utterly ruthless in my moderation/deletion of idiocy in the form of comments.

I’m excited to get going and hope that there is an interested audience for what will appear here. Cheers.
